Halcyon /ˈhalsēən/ is a mythical bird said by ancient Greeks to breed in a nest floating at sea at the winter solstice, charming the wind and waves into calm.

Welcome

Our homes are meant to be places of peace and calm, sheltered from the outside world. Clutter and disorganization disturbs that comfort, causing us to feel anxious and overwhelmed. It distracts us from where our focus should be, it causes feelings of guilt and embarrassment, and it steals our precious time. And if that wasn't bad enough, the effect of disorganization on our mental health is cyclical: Clutter can cause stress and anxiety, and anxiety and stress can cause clutter.

Halcyon is here to help you regain the peace of mind that comes with order. No judgment, no shame. We can help you organize, stage, and maintain any room, closet, cupboard, or drawer... moving your life from chaos to calm.

Services

A list of our general services can be found below. We begin with a free consultation to discuss your needs and wants for the space, and then we get to work. Rates are $45 per hour, with a 2 hour minimum. We can focus on a specific area in the home, or check off a list of little jobs throughout.

Using storage solutions you already own (jars, boxes, baskets, etc.), we take a creative and frugal approach to the process. If new storage items are desired, we can advise you on what to purchase and from where, or do the shopping ourselves. If we do the shopping, time spent doing so counts towards our total time, and the purchasing cost of the item(s) is added to the final invoice.

If the organizing service you are needing is not listed, It doesn't hurt to ask. Just use the Contact Us button below.

Kitchen

Our speciality and absolute favorite space to organize, the kitchen is the heart of the home. An organized kitchen makes meal prep and grocery shopping less stressful, and it gives you the gift of time. We can organize the entire space, or simply that pesky junk drawer, giving you the tools to keep the space functional, efficient, and welcoming long after we are gone.

Bathroom

Linen closets, cupboards, drawers, and medicine cabinets... when was the last time you fully cleaned these out? Checked medicine expiration dates? Realized you have four DayQuils and zero NyQuils? Found those tiny rubber bands from the orthodontist e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e.? We've got you covered. And we even know how to fold fitted sheets.

Bedroom

The bedroom is meant to be a place of tranquility and calm, but let's be honest... there is always that laundry basket of clothes waiting to be washed or put away, the jumble of papers and jewelry and matchless socks on top of the dresser, and the stack of books on your bedside table that you are *sure* you'll read. Let us help you organize the madness and create a space of serenity and rest.

Office

Over the past year, many of us have moved home to work. The line between home and office can be hard to draw, not to mention helping our children adjust to remote learning. As the world slowly settles into a new normal, our office spaces need some love. Whether it was the site of dozens of professional zoom meetings, or the place where you tried to figure out the *new* math so you could teach it to your 2nd grader, let us give your office space a breath of fresh air.

Downsizing

Are you planning to move and don't want to pack everything? Perhaps you are empty-nesters hitting the road in a tiny house? Or maybe you just binged all of Marie Kondo's show during the pandemic and have realized most of your possessions do not "spark joy"? We can help, and we'll make it as painless as possible (We have a few boxes of baby clothes in the basement that our now-teenagers wore... we totally get it).

Everything Else

Living rooms, garages, storage rooms, laundry rooms, dining areas, game closets, playrooms, basements, nurseries... even styling, staging, filing, email management, and hanging gallery walls. We can help you with all of your spaces. Seriously.

Meet the Owner

Halcyon owner and organizer Rachel is a wife, a mom, a traveler, a professor, a photographer, a fan girl, and a Gemini. She has two degrees in the arts (in organization-adjacent fields), and is addicted to Mexican food, architecture television shows, and dogs. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Rachel is an ocean girl at heart and loves the sound of rain on the roof. Glitter is her favorite color.

The first time she organized someone else's space, Rachel was in junior high ("Her room was a wreck, so I fixed it."), and since then has been organizing everything from single junk drawers to entire homes. Rachel is a member of both The National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals and Utah Professional Organizers, is fully vaccinated and insured, and really (REALLY) loves making a place for everything.
